The Key West Fire Department on Wednesday took delivery on its new fire boat. The 29-foot Safe Boat is replacing a 10-year-old Boston Whaler and will provide the department with state of the art capability for firefighting in the island city.

The vessel is currently being bottom painted, and should be in service early next week.
